System Operations

UKARA do not officially respond on Airsoft Forums as we have found in the past that it is very difficult to get a sensible discussion, it also adsorbs a great deal of valuable time trying to keep up with the latest posts, the thread soon tends to get hijacked despite the best efforts of moderators, we do however try to read relevant threads and part of below is an attempt to answer some of the more relevant points.

To be a permitted purchaser - Changing address - Renewal

To be a permitted purchaser

The regulations are that you need to be a member of an Insured Airsoft gaming site and you have to have played there 3 times over a period of NOT LESS THAN 2 Months, not played 3 time inside a period two months.

Once you are a member of the game site you can be registered on the UKARA database as an eligible purchaser but you don't become a member of UKARA ( only retailers can ) or get any form of license.

Current figures and News

There are now over 49 registered UKARA Retailers in the UK and 114 UKARA registered game sites.

UKARA has been involved with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, or RoHS testing to ensure that airsoft imports have not been restricted by a lack of compliance, this testing means imported electrical goods have to prove they do not contain the banned substances and will be an ongoing progress funded by UKARA on behalf of its members.

Processing direct sales

If you are buying directly face to face from an Airsoft retailer you should as well as a game site membership card, or UKARA number reference have alternative identification such as a drivers license, or passport.
The retailer may well wish to check additional identification to make sure it is your membership card and not a borrowed or stolen card.

Server Upgrade

within a few days we will be doing a server upgrade this site and some others on the same server may be down but hopefully for just a day, this also means UKARA emails may bounce so if it does send again later when this site is back up.

Player Application Forms

When submitting a Player Application form to a retail please make sure that your game site has marked the ID checks as done.
Please make sure you send in the original form, a copy will be rejected and you will not be registered until the original has been received.

Fake UKARA Login

Game site and retail members should always use the normal URL when logging into the database. There is apparently a fake login page circulating to try to catch out the unwary into revealing their password.
The matter is being followed up but there is no possibility of the database being compromised.

Players moving address

If you are moving house and need to amend your UKARA registered delivery address contact the game site you are a member of and they should be able to update through the game site database portal.

If you are moving game site area as well, ask your current game site to contact the new one that you will be registered with, and ask them to grandfather you using a new players form with the new registration details. They are not obliged to do this.

Player Database Blocking

Apart from showing themselves unsuitable to be listed as an Airsoft Skirmisher there are very few reasons for a player to find themselves no longer registered on the UKARA database.

1) For a player to be registered on the database list they must be a current member of a recognised UKARA registered game site.

2) Once per year the game site is automatically asked by the database to confirm their players as members of their game site, if they no longer are the site will not renew the listing, and the player will be blocked from the look up facility of the database.

Game Site and Player Suspension

Both Players and Retailer may find that a player or game site will appear inactive on the database.

This may be because the game site has not yet presented a current notice of insurance to UKARA.

The game site may still have insurance cover, but at present the insurance companies are often quite slow to send through the latest paperwork, which then needs forwarding so that the database information can be updated.

The Statutory instrument associated with VCR Act is very precise on this matter “No insurance - No defence."
